OVERVIEW: The Tp 43X0 is a lightweight, wire-guided, anti-submarine torpedo developed by Sweden for export. It is an export version of the domestic Tp 431, offering the same propulsion and guidance capabilities.

DETAILS: “Tp” stands for Torped in Swedish nomenclature, and “43X0” indicates the export model of the Tp 431 torpedo introduced in 1988. The Tp 43X0 retains a 400 mm diameter, electric propulsion via silver-zinc batteries, wire guidance during mid-course, and passive acoustic homing in the terminal phase. It is derived directly from the domestic Tp 431 and provides the same performance profile for foreign navies. This model was the export counterpart to Sweden’s Tp 431, allowing integration with compatible foreign submarine launch systems.

TYPE: Lightweight Wire-Guided Anti-Submarine Torpedo (Export Variant)

FUNCTION: Launched from 400 mm submarine torpedo tubes, the Tp 43X0 travels under wire guidance during its initial and mid-course phases. It then switches to autonomous passive acoustic homing in the terminal phase to detect and engage submarine targets.
